Tim Blake Nelson’s Probable Dune: Part 2 Role Explained

Why The Frank Herbert Character Didn’t Make The Final Cut

While McKinley would have returned as Hawat , a role he played in the first movie , Nelson ’s cutDune : Part Tworolewas never expose . The source fabric from author Frank Herbert , however , makes absolved thatthe actor was probably going to be dally Count Hasimir Fenring . Fenring plays a comparatively minor function in the Word , serving as a close friend to Emperor Shaddam IV .

While Fenring gets a few standout moments in the novel , it ’s ultimately not surprising that he was trend from the celluloid . Fenring is the husband to Lady Jessica , a function dally inDune : Part Twoby Léa Seydoux , and she is arguably the more compelling character . Both quality are interested in value Feyd - Rautha , the Harkonnen successor , with Lady Margot attempting to retrieve his hereditary stuff for the Bene Gesserit breeding course of study , while Fenring is assess his suitableness as Harkonnen inheritor . Instead , the film simplifies this part of the Scripture by only focusing on Lady Margot ’s undertaking .

With aDune : Part Threenow confirmed , there is a hypothesis that Nelson ’s character could finally make an appearance . alas , however , since he does n’t seem in the 2nd film and is n’t really a part of the story of Herbert’sDune : Messiah , it ’s unlikely he ’ll be shoehorned into the tale . While it undoubtedly would have been interesting to see Nelson ’s role inDune : Part Two , Walker ’s latest input affirms that the decision was made to make the continuation ’s fib as strong as potential .
