Aemond Targaryen ’s return inHouse of the Dragonseason 2 sees him lie about how Lucerys Valeryon ’s last happened , with the reason aligning with what initially led him to postdate his nephew on Vhagar . Creating a dot of no return for the Targaryen Black and Green sect ’ impending announcement of war , House of the Dragonseason 1 endedwithAemond and his tartar Vhagar kill Lucerys and Arrax . The feud between Aemond and Lucerys had been simmer for well over a decennary at that point , but Aemond made a heavy fault by flying Vhagar after Lucerys when he attempt to flee Aemond ’s desire to defend .
While Aemond intentionally demand Vhagar to chase Lucerys and Arrax in the skies , he did n’t mean to kill him . Rather , Aemond wanted to take out Lucerys ’ eye as revenge for bring his own when they were children , and chasing him on Vhagar was a way to establish his dominance and frighten Luke . However , Aemond lost ascendancy of Vhagar , and once she became violent , his commands to make her stop attacking no longer worked , culminating inVhagar kill both Lucerys and Arrax . Aemond was clear rock and realize his error , but when returning to King ’s Landing , he dwell and suggest that he intended to down Luke .
