receive to ourStar Warscountdown . Ahead of the release ofThe Rise of Skywalker , we ’ve been looking back at all of the movies that have gone before it . We ’ve so far covered the prequel trilogy , twisting - offsRogue OneandSolo : A Star Wars Story ,   and also given our opinions onA New HopeandThe Empire Strikes Back .

Now , it ’s the number ofReturn of the Jedi , the final installment of the original trilogy .   Here are the best and bad things about the blockbuster .

Best: Confronting Jabba

fan had spent the three years in betweenThe Empire Strikes BackandReturn of the Jediwondering how the heroes were going to save Han Solo , who had been encased in carbonite and transferred to Jabba the Hutt at the end of the old trilogy . And , while George Lucas was under grownup pressure to get things good , his decision to have Luke Skywalker , Lando Calrissian , Leia Organa and Chewbacca - as well as droid duo C3PO and R2D2 - confront Jabba directly paid off .

All of the scenes within his castle are enthralling : from the droids arriving to Leia getting captured , Luke defeating the Rancor to Leia strangling Jabba to death . We have only one very pocket-sized complaint , however …

Worst: Luke Force Chokes

After Leia Organa had been catch by Jabba stick to her attempt to come to Han Solo ’s delivery , Luke Skywalker resolve to intervene . The last prison term we ’d seen the Jedi Knight was when he ’d learned that Darth Vader was his father during an epic showdown on Cloud City .

But Luke walks into Jabba ’s palace and straightaway squeeze chokes two Garmorrean guards who try and prevent him from enter . While we knew the tone of the picture would be dissimilar from before , it seemed rather out of fiber , especially given how Luke could have just used a Jedi mind fast one instead , as he did on poor Bib Fortuna .

Best: Emperor Palpatine

lover of the franchise had got their first glimpse of Emperor Palpatine duringThe Empire Strikes Back , when it ’s revealed that he ’s in reality the one holding Darth Vader ’s leash . And , forReturn of the Jedi , the decision was made to get the Sith Lord sincerely into the fold by having him put to work over Vader and attempt to sour Luke Skywalker to the dark side .

And while the decision to make Vader a petty villain was controversial , Palpatine is a firm enough character to make it worth the punt . Every business he talk suggest malice , and his force lightning was a rotatory idea for the prison term . It ’s Ian McDiarmid ’s performance , like inRevenge of the Sith , that has made the Emperor such an iconic villain .

Worst: Boba Fett’s Death

Some lover recollect that Boba Fett could return forThe Mandalorian , but for the time being , the Bounty Hunter is very much drained . And his death could have been handled better - something even George Lucas has admitted in the years sinceReturn of the Jedi ’s release .

Fett had garnered pop condition for his trick in the previous movie . But he ’s easily kill on Tatooine , falling into the Sarlaac pit where he faces being put up over a thousand year . For somebody with his iconic expression , we ca n’t help but feel the character deserved better .

Best: The Action-Packed Third Act

After the scenes on Tatooine , the movie loosen pretty , focusing or else on dialogue rather than big natural process sequences . However , this change for the third human action of the movie , where there ’s so much going on .

Firstly , there ’s the huge showdown between Luke Skywalker and both Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine on the 2nd Death Star . At the same time , on the ground , Han Solo , Leia Organa , and Chewbacca - with some help from the Ewoks - manage to get the blank space station ’s shields down . And , in the sky , Lando Calrissian leads the rush to demolish the Death Star . Some consider so much action at law made the blockbuster disjointed , but we reckon it helps make the movie one of the most entertaining of the lot .

Worst: Ewoks

coming back of the Jediwas a picture show where George Lucas chose to strengthen thing down to help make the movie easier for children , some of which had been left feeling a piddling flat follow the darkEmpire Strikes Back . So he decided to create the Ewoks , which due to their cute and cuddly nature , turned out to be huge marketing material .

Lucas create them alone for the intention of making money through merchandise , and just about everybody , including Harrison Ford himself , has admit they were n’t dandy on them . For that reason we agree - but we must admit we still would n’t decline a hug from one .

Best: Another Twist

In the previous field day , Star Warshad rocked its fans by revealing that Darth Vader was Luke Skywalker ’s Church Father . However , it sour out that George Lucas was n’t done with the wind there and pick out to confine another back for the last installment of the original trilogy .

We are , of course , refer to the revelation that Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa were actually both Vader ’s children . They had been shroud from the Empire for their own prophylactic , and it mean that Leia , like her brother , is capable of using the force out . It was a marvelous eddy - but we have to hold it makes THAT kiss scene inThe Empire Strikes Backa tad uncomfortable to watch …

Worst: Obi-Wan’s Explanation

While we love Obi - Wan Kenobi , there ’s no deny that he ’s a rather thwarting quality . He spends most of the late movie give obscure advice to Luke , like differentiate him to go to Dagobah at a point where he ’s literally freeze to dying on Hoth . He also discourages Skywalker from taking on Vader at Cloud City , despite knowing how much the youngster ’s friends mean to him .   And he carries on being frustrating duringReturn of the Jedi .

His explanation about Luke ’s ancestry for sure rankles , with his ' from a sealed breaker point of view ' title just utter rubbish . Obi - Wan should have state Luke the truth , and his lack of apology for his deception is infuriating for those who would prefer to know the Sojourner Truth .

Best: The Ending

Perhaps part of the intellect the sequel trilogy has fail to hold up up to the same dizzying standards of the archetype may be because the first threeStar Warsmovies ended utterly .

Seriously , how could they possibly improve on the final view ofReturn of the Jedi ? Darth Vader dies a heroic demise with his organic structure burning on Endor , Palpatine appear gone always , and Luke Skywalker , Han Solo , Lando Calrissian , Leia Organa , and Chewbacca all celebrate the evenfall of the Empire . The sight of the three force ghost Obi - Wan Kenobi , Anakin Skywalker , and Yoda also make believe the ending view so limited . It ’s just a pity , though , that the galaxy only had peacefulness for just a few years after such a monumental achievement .

Worst: NOOOO

Okay , so this is something that ’s only recently happened , but it ’s still enough to make the list . George Lucas , typically , could n’t help but tinker with the original trilogy when it came to the special variant Blu - Ray releases back in 2011 . And he choose to make a change that has angered fans of the franchise in the age since .

Shortly before Vader throws Palpatine down the Death Star slideway , he says ' noooo ' just like he did inRevenge of the Sith . devotee did n’t wish it then , and they certainly do n’t like it now . We find it ’s a rather pointless change to make , too , but make the scene somewhat speculative rather than providing any improvement .
