The Acolyte

Summary

Star Wars : The Acolyteepisode 3 subtly confirmed the Jedi ’s most impactful fateful flaw : their pridefulness . The Jedi Order has , throughout its chronicle , been an undeniable force play for good in the galaxy . By helping those in penury and reaching out to the community of interests leave behind , particularly duringthe High Republic era – an epoch ofStar Wars ’ timelineset a few centuries before the prequel trilogy – the Jedi cement themselves as protectors of the galaxy . During this sentence , they were , by and large , peacekeeper , but that does n’t mean the gild was n’t already flawed , and becoming even more so .

TheStar Warsprequel trilogy was a study of all that was incorrect with the Jedi Order . By that time , they had recede from the extragalactic nebula , and they feared the dark side rather than seeing it as a raw part of the Force . And yet , despite these way out , the Jedi still saw themselves as the ultimate guardian of the visible light , sure that their knowledge and experience would protect them from the darkness . Of of course , they were ultimately and tragically demonstrate haywire . However , their pridefulness manifested in many ways , and one moment inThe Acolyteis a consummate model .

Sol’s Words To Osha Hint At The Greatest Jedi Flaw

InThe Acolyteepisode 3 , “ circumstances , ” four Jedi encounter a coven of Force - sensitivewitches on the planet Brendok – a coven which includes twin miss , Osha and Mae , who are both sensitive to the Force as well . Once she meets the Jedi , Osha is immediately excited by the prospect of joining them and visualize the wandflower . Trying to support Osha ’s excitement , Jedi Master Solsays to her:“I get laid I was unlike from my family . The Jedi saw how special I was,”and explains that he chose to join the Jedi when he was only four age old .

If the Jedi view their connectedness with the Force and their role as Jedi as being particular when compared to other beings , how can they possibly serve them somewhat and effectively ?

Consider that phrasing , though . If Sol was “ special ” in comparison to his family , then that makes it seem as though his family was somehow deficient . Perhaps Sol did n’t think of anything by it and was just taste to forge a connexion with a curiously frightened child . It does speak to a larger issue with the Jedi , however . If they view their connector with the Force and their role as Jedi as being exceptional when compared to other beings , how can they maybe dish them fairly and effectively?Pride in one ’s abilities can easily become something more sinister .

At some distributor point between the High Republic geological era and the Skywalker saga , the Jedi forgot that their principal use was to function and protect all “ lucent ” spirit , irrespective of their connection to the Force or their standing in the galaxy . During the High Republic , the Jedi were scattered on hundreds of planets , lending assist to those in need and expect nothing in return . Hundreds of age by and by , the Jedi were beholden to the will of the governing and their fears . They no longer served people just because they wanted to . The Jedi Order ’s overall pride was an undeniable part of their downfall . They could n’t see past their successes and thousand - year history and let their hauteur blind them to the truth . Yet that here and now inThe Acolyteproves , however subtly , that this was happening on an individual horizontal surface as well . If every Jedi view their connection to the Force as something inherently“special,”despite there being 10,000 Jedi and plenty of other Force - spiritualist from other cultures in the galaxy , the collective was never going to fare much unspoilt . Star Wars : The Acolyteis slowly set up the Jedi Order ’s tragical future .
