Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace

Summary

One deleted fit fromStar warfare : Episode I - The Phantom Menacewas inexplicably ignore by director George Lucas . With 2024 being the 25th anniversary of the first prequel movie , The Phantom Menaceis experience much attention of late . Thefirst chronological movie inStar Wars , The Phantom Menaceexplored the Jedi origins of Anakin Skywalker all while delving deeply into the mystery of the Sith . Since the film ’s release , modernStar Warshas rewrittenThe Phantom Menace ’s storysomewhat , thanks to disagree position on the film .

That sound out , much of whatThe Phantom Menaceexplored remains the same two decades later on . This include the scene I confessedly find more ludicrous in the movie . One such scene that I have always set up unusual come midway through the motion-picture show , with Anakin and Qui - Gon - play by Jake Lloyd and Liam Neeson inStar Wars : The Phantom Menace ’s cast- urgently running back to their ship on Tatooine before being attacked by Darth Maul . With the regenerate aid in the film , a deleted scene has resurface connected to this foreign moment which I can not conceive was cut by George Lucas .

If The Phantom Menace was made today , it would have a very different hurl , and there are some contemporary actor who would be perfect for Star Wars .

This TPM Deleted Scene Finally Explains Why Qui-Gon & Anakin Are Running

The Deleted Phantom Menace Scene Adds Much-Needed Context To A Scene I’ve Always Found Out Of Place

As I alluded to , the scene inThe Phantom Menaceshows Qui - Gon and Anakin running back to their Naboo cruiser in the Tatooine desert . Qui - Gon turn and narrate Anakin to throw , kickstarting the first skirmish with Darth Maul . The scene has always stand out to me as one that makes small sense;why Qui - Gon and Anakin were run was always left unexplored , and the quick creation and brief struggle with Darth Maul find rushed . It would make horse sense that Qui - Gon and Anakin were running from Maul , though nothing was established prior to this to hint they knew of the Sith Lord ’s presence .

However , 25 years after the film ’s initial release , I may lastly have the absent piece of the puzzler . A deleted scene from the movie has surfaced online which takes home before the Maul battle , showing Qui - Gon and Anakin give Mos Espa . Qui - Gon notice a investigation droid , one let loose by Maul in the beginning , behind him . Qui - Gon turns and slashes the probe droid , noting its presentiment nature . This prompts Qui - Gon and Anakin to quicken their pace in hark back to Obi - Wan , explaining why they were ladder to their ship in the scene fromThe Phantom Menace ’s terminal slash .

Why Would The Probe Droid Come So Close To The Jedi?

Anakin’s Presence Allowed Qui-Gon To Destroy The Probe Droid

While this deleted picture explain why Qui - Gon and Anakin were running to their ship , it does raise another game muddle of sorts . While I think the deleted scene should have been allow in the movie for context ’s sake , it begs the motion of why the probe droid came so dangerously close to Qui - Gon in the first post . Despite this glaring error in the scene , it could be explained using a degree of common sentience .

When Maul released the probe droids , he belike programmed them to front for a queer Jedi in Qui - Gon , or a twain of Jedi if Obi - Wan Kenobi was with him . The probe droid would not have been looking for a humans and a young male child , with Anakin accompanying Qui - Gon throwing off its search . This could explicate why it moved so nigh to Qui - Gon , allowing the primary Jedi ofStar Wars : Episode I - The Phantom Menaceto dispatch it with rest in the deleted scenery that I still can not believe George Lucas removed .
