So far this time of year , Elementaryhas chiefly focused on Sherlock ’s continue retrieval , and how that has brought new battle , which relate chiefly to the few relationships he ’s either been able to cultivate since snuff it into recovery , or the few bridge he did n’t completely burn before seeking help for his addictions . To that end , the season ’s narrative has seen a majuscule concentration on the Sherlock making amends , not only with a few people from his yesteryear – i.e. ,Mycroft , Lestrade , andMoriarty – but also people like Det . Bell ( Jon Michael Hall ) .

But this is still a procedural show at heart , and as it must conform to the indigence of the episodic format , there ’re times when the overall arc of the characters winds up vie for sentence against an equally large story that feel like it was prematurely pull from the oven . In this shell , ' All in the Family ' is tasked with balancing the need of Sherlock and Bell ’s fractured relationship with a narrative about Bell ’s new boss , Deputy Commissioner Da Silva ( Frank Gerety ) , really being a prospicient - clip Sicilian Mafia plant , who wound up being unspoilt at his chore , and get up up in the ranks of NYPD . thing have been muted for several years , until a right to vote that would efficaciously cut off mafia funds compels his overlords to bring Da Silva back into the fold . Da Silva ’s resolution to the dilemma , then , is to make out to the NSA ( that meansTim Guinee ’s Dean McNalley is back ) to leak the whereabouts of a mob chief ’s son and effectively starta mafia war .

Now that ’s not an uninteresting story , by any mean , but rather than congratulate Sherlock ’s awkward endeavour to attain out to Bell , and Bell ’s staunch refusal to admit , ' All in the fellowship ' winds up brush a lot of its junior-grade story under the rug . For the most part , that means hunky-dory guest stars from notable mob - related telly show and movies likePaul Sorvino ’s family boss Robert Pardillo and even Vincent Curatola ( ' The Sopranos ' ) , who briefly shows up as Theodore " Big Teddy " Ferrara , make for fun appearances , but the instalment does n’t really give them much to do other than deliver some info that winds up leading Sherlock , Watson , and eventually Bell , right back to Da Silva .

Despite experience a little light on one end , the episode does manage to delve profoundly into the reasons why Sherlock ’s so desperate to repair his relationship with Bell – even if it means just getting affair to a topographic point where they can play together again . There ’re several clash that propose bothJonny Lee Millerand Jon Michael Hill a chance to run headlong into one another ’s undetermined anger , and then to expose their exposure . This culminates in Sherlock ’s admission of retiring addiction that help quell Bell ’s smell of inadequacy , staunch from his prolonged and difficult recovery from a gunfire injury .

Elementary Review

Although Bell finds himself back at homicide – which we can take on means he ’ll be working with Sherlock and Watson again – the writers sagely keep the heavy relationship between the two men basically unresolved , as a silent nod of the oral sex is all they can seem to muster . in the end , the story probably says more about the kind of person Sherlock is becoming , than anything about Det . Bell , but considering the season has for the most part been aboutmaking restitution , it works more than it does n’t .
