While perfectly concluding some of its principal story arcs , Dark Matter time of year 1 ’s end also purposely leave behind some major questions unanswered .
Should There Be A Dark Matter Season 2?
There Are Potential Storylines, But No Existing Source Material Is A Concern
The unresolved Ryan and Amanda story urinate the theory ofDark Matterseason 2 more challenging . The story of Jason1 , Daniela Dessen ( Jennifer Connelly ) , and Charlie Dessen ( Oakes Fegley ) has apparently come to a well-chosen and satisfying conclusion , but there is more to search with both Ryan and Amanda , along with the other characters spread across the multiverse . Both Simpson and Braga are fantabulous actors , but Simpson in fussy did n’t get enough of an opportunity to evidence his tremendous acting range , nor was there an in - astuteness exploration of the various version of Ryan .

With Crouch teasing what Ryan has see out aboutthe Box andDark Matter ’s multiverseso far , there is significant story electric potential . That being say , there is a concern that even the established setup for Ryan and Amanda is n’t enough to sustain a second time of year , especially since their roles were more in support of the Dessen family ’s account than anything else . There is also the business concern of not have any source material to run from for season 2 , whereas season 1 had an integral novel .
Crouch ’s intimacy means that any continuation would in all probability be faithful and would n’t undermine the taradiddle that has already been told , but it also does n’t mean it has to fall out . HBO’sBig Little Lieshad a unflawed first season that adapted its source textile , and even though time of year 2 was based on an unpublished novella by original author Liane Moriarty , it still conk out to live up to time of year 1.Dark Mattertakes the same risk by potentially force a time of year 2 that does n’t already have existing source cloth , and that will fall abruptly of time of year 1 .
